چکیده

This paper proposes an optimal algorithm for constructing the surface adjacency relation in a list of polygons extracted from 3D medical images. The discrete nature of data allows us to build this adjacency relation in a time proportional to the number of triangles T. We have payed a special attention on the memory requirements, since our method takes as input the surface extracted by the Marching-Cubes algorithm and does not make reference to the initial 3D dataset. Moreover, no additional temporary storage is needed to compute the relation.

Extraction and 3D Segmentation of Tumors-Based Unsupervised Clustering Techniques in Medical Images

Introduction The diagnosis and separation of cancerous tumors in medical images require accuracy, experience, and time, and it has always posed itself as a major challenge to the radiologists and physicians. Materials and Methods We Received 290 medical images composed of 120 mammographic images, LJPEG format, scanned in gray-scale with 50 microns size, 110 MRI images including of T1-Wighted, T...

Camera Arrangement in Visual 3D Systems using Iso-disparity Model to Enhance Depth Estimation Accuracy

In this paper we address the problem of automatic arrangement of cameras in a 3D system to enhance the performance of depth acquisition procedure. Lacking ground truth or a priori information, a measure of uncertainty is required to assess the quality of reconstruction. The mathematical model of iso-disparity surfaces provides an efficient way to estimate the depth estimation uncertainty which ...

Modelling tomographic cone-beam projection data from a polyhedral phantom

Analytical phantoms are used to generate projection data for testing reconstruction accuracy in computed axial tomography. A circular source locus (equivalent to rotating specimen with a fixed source) provides insufficient data for ‘exact’ reconstruction in cone-beam transmission tomography, thus phantom data are useful for studying the consequent errors and also for investigating alternative s...

Fusion and display of 3D SPECT and MR images registered by a surface fitting method

Since 3D medical images such as SPECT and MRI are taken under different patients positioning and imaging parameters, interpretation of them, as reconstructed originally, does not provide an easy and accurate understanding of similarities and differences between them. The problem becomes more crucial where a clinician would like to map accurately region of interest from one study to the ot...

The 3d Marching Lines Algorithm and Its Application to Crest Lines Extraction

This paper presents a powerful and general purpose tool designed to extract characteristic lines from 3D images . The algorithm, called Marching Lines, is inspired from the Marching Cubes algorithm, which is used to extract iso-value surfaces from 3D images. The Marching Lines algorithm extracts with sub-pixel accuracy the 3D lines corresponding to the intersection of two iso-surfaces from two ...
